Too Much Sun is a Bad Thing

May 27, 2010

This week is sunny, hot and humid and we all want to be outside enjoying it.

However, the sun can cause some nasty skin cancers.

To protect yourself from skin cancers:Protect yourself from the sun by wearing long sleeved shirts, a wide-brimmed hat (also keeps you cooler) sunglasses, and by putting on sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher (the most effective products say “broad spectrum” or “UVA/UVB protection” on their labels).

**REAPPLY sunscreen every TWO hours if you are sweating.

Try to do most of your work in the shade if possible.

Limit your time in the sun and avoid all other sources of Ultraviolet Radiation such as: sunlamps, tanning beds and tanning booths.

Enjoy your time outside in a safe and healthy manner.

    Yep, My calf.

    ‘Gabriel” Born last Easter.

    All my cows are red.

Imagine my surprise when this black boy showed up.

The sun ( and bugs ) bothers black cows more than red cows, so I put a hat on him on the really hot sunny days so he could keep up with his red, sun loving, mom.

The hat really helped him. I also sprayed the hat with bug spray to keep all the flys off his black fly magnet body and it worked great. Janis
